Tank container - special 20' or 23' container intended for the transportation and storage of various liquid products.

A normal tank container consists of, a frame (ISO standard) and barrel, equipped with different devices like a thermometer, pressure and loading valves. It is suitable both for gravity and pressure discharge methods. For some products special modifications of the tank containers are needed.

  • Container capacity: 21000 - 26000 litres for 20' containers and up to 33000 litres for 23' containers;
  • Weight of product differs depending on its specific gravity (kg per litre ratio);
  • Filled minimum is up to 80 % according to the safety regulations of the transportation;
  • Suitable both for harmless and dangerous products;
  • Equipped with steam heating (used normally in ports and during unloading);
  • Tanks with electrical heating, to maintain a constant temperature, can only be used at sea and for road transportation and normally this is impossible by rail. We have several depots in the ports of all Baltic countries and in Russia where there is the possibility of internal cleaning and preheating if necessary;
  • We make regular deliveries, as well as single shipments one-way.
  • These are special pieces of equipment - with a multilayer bag capacity of 21 - 25000 litres designed for the transportation of harmless liquid products;
  • A flexitank is installed inside a standard 20 ' container before the loading by our professionals. Then the product is pumped into it. We provide flexitanks with installation for regular deliveries exactly where you need it;
  • Flexitanks are usually filled up to 24-25 tons in order to keep within the maximum pressure  limits allowed on the side walls of a 20' container;
  • Flexitanks are suitable ONLY for HARMLESS (not dangerous) products;
  • It is single-time bag used for a one-way trip. After unloading it is easily dismounted and disposed of. In a folded state it is about 0,25 m3 and weighs 60kg;
  • Flexitanks work very well for deliveries by sea and truck. At the same time it is not recommended for deliveries by railway, as the rear walls can be damaged by heavy shaking or from sudden stops during train manoeuvres. Due to this transportation by rail is only at the customers own risk;
  • We provide high-quality flexitanks certified and insured in the European Union. Our flexitanks are accepted for use by the majority of the largest manufacturers in the world (this is a very important requirement for the majority of loading plants).

Additional services:

  • For the additional charge we can provide a special heating pad in case you need maintain the temperature when unloading. It is a kind of pillow with rubber tubes inside placed under the flexitank before loading. The pad must be connected to a hot water source (not steam) and it gives an additional +3/+4C to the product on discharge. In the near future we will be able to provide a steam heating system for flexitanks as well, which has recently been designed and is currently being tested;
  • For the products requiring temperature controlled delivery we will soon be able to provide flexitanks specially designed for 40' reefer containers (because most of reefer equipment in the world is 40'). It has the same capacity of 21-25 000 litres and has recently been designed and is currently being tested.

Advantages and savings:

  • The cost of a flexitank is normally always lower than any other packing like IBC (plastic cubes), drums and barrels - saving on packaging costs;
  • The quantity of product, which you normally can deliver in a flexitank is more than with any other type of packaging – saving on transport costs per ton;
  • The transportation cost in a flexitank for a one-way trip is normally lower than in a tank container, because for tank containers often the repositioning cost and cleaning is included – saving on transportation costs;
  • Producers may offer some products only in bulk due to higher pollution and safety regulations. This means you cannot buy some products packaged at all, only in bulk — there are more possibilities with flexitanks;
  • Products are normally sold cheaper in bulk then packaged – saving on product costs;
  • You need less storage capacity for liquid products compared to warehouse packed goods – saving on production costs.

Typical flexitankable products:

  • Food-grade: juice concentrates, juices, syrups, wine; vegetable, animal and pharmaceutical oils; liquid sorbitolol; glucose, fructose; sweeteners; treacle; malt etc... (many others allowed subject to your request);
  • Chemical products: base, technical and lubricating oils and technical additives; plasticizers; additives and drilling liquid; the synthetic resins; waxes; cleaning agents, emulsion; glycerin; some forms of paints, inks; some fertilizers; latex; transformer oils; alkaloids etc... (many others allowed subject to your request).

This is only a brief list of basic goods, which are often shipped in flexitanks worldwide. Most HARMLESS liquid products are accepted for transport in flexitanks, but to make sure we always would like to have copy of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for checking and confirmation.

For the products, which have never been transported in flexitanks before, we recommend testing in special small flexitanks of 10 litres in our laboratory in Europe. We can organize sampling and testing ourselves according to the agreement with the client.

IBC

Intermediate Bulk Containers are reusable industrial containers designed for the transportation and storage of bulk liquid and granular substances (e.g. chemicals, food ingredients, solvents, pharmaceuticals, etc.).

Intermediate bulk containers effectively bridge the gap between large bulk transit containers and unitized consumer packaging.Intermediate bulk containers are stackable containers mounted on a pallet that are designed to be moved using a forklift or a pallet jack.

IBCs have a volume range that is positioned between drums and tanks, hence the term "intermediate“. The most common sizes are 1,040 litres and 1,250 litres (the 1040 liter IBCs are often listed as being 1000 litres). Cube shaped IBCs provide particularly good utilization of storage capacity.

The construction of the IBC containers depends on the application of use, but the two main types are steel & plastic.They are designed for easy use with material handling vehicles such as fork lifts. Many intermediate bulk container designs allow the container to be collapsed and folded for compact storage.

These containers are commonly used to store a range of materials, including loose components, powdered goods, and liquid soap, as well as food stuffs and hazardous fluids or solids.

The advantages of using IBC containers include low transit costs, efficient space utilization during transit or storage, and good compatibility with a range of filling and discharge systems.

IBCs decrease customer costs through reduced handling, storage space and shipping expenses.

Drums

A drum is a cylindrical container used for shipping bulk cargo. Drums are also called barrels in common usage. Steel drums are used as shipping containers for chemicals and other liquids.

Drums can be made of steel, dense paperboard (commonly called a fiber drum), or plastics, and are generally used for the transportation and storage of liquids and powders.

Drums are often certified for shipment of dangerous goods. Shipped goods must be matched with the make of drum necessary to comply with applicable regulations. The drums are typically made of steel with a ribbed outer wall to improve rigidity and for rolling. The lids can be welded or secured with a head gasket and bolt ring. They are commonly used for transporting oils, fuels, chemicals, and dry goods.

The construction and performance of drums used for shipment of dangerous goods or hazardous materials are governed by UN, country, and carrier regulations. Drums are frequently transported on pallets for ease of handling by a fork truck and for shipping.

The drum's size, shape, and weight distribution lends itself to being moved about readily on the loading dock or factory floor with a two-wheeled hand truck.

International standard size: The exact capacity varies by manufacturer, purpose, or other factors.Standard drums have inside dimensions of 22.5 inches (572 mm) diameter and 33.5 inches (851 mm) height.These dimensions yield a volume of about 13,320 cubic inches, but they are commonly filled to about 200 litres.The outside dimensions of a 200-litre drum are typically 23 inches (584 mm) diameter at the top or bottom rim, 23.5 inches (597 mm) diameter at the chines (ridges around drum), and 34.5 inches (876 mm) height.
